
Ichabod Crane baseball cruises past Cohoes

Second-seeded Ichabod Crane cruised to a 12-2 win over visiting Cohoes on Friday in its Class B first-round baseball playoff contest in Valatie.
Chad Salazar tossed a five-inning complete game, including eight strikeouts, to earn the victory. Salazar also paced the Riders' offense with a 4-for-4, five-RBI performance.
More baseball: Columbia used a four-run fourth inning to coast past La Salle, 7-2, in a Class AA first-round playoff contest in East Greenbush. Carmen Erno tossed six innings, allowing two runs on three hits while striking out 11 to pick up the victory. Matt LaHera led the Blue Devils with a 3-for-4 day and four RBIs.
Boys' lacrosse: Gordy Adams scored four goals to help fourth-seeded Burnt Hills get past fifth-seeded La Salle, 16-10, in a Class B quarterfinal game at Burnt Hills. With the win, the Spartans advance to Tuesday's semifinal round against top-seeded and host Ballston Spa with the opening faceoff set for 4:15 p.m.
Girls' lacrosse: Top-seeded Schuylerville coasted to a 22-2 victory over visiting Greenwich in the Class D quarterfinal round. Alison Burnham scored seven goals and had one assist to lead the Black Horses. ... In the Class C quarterfinals, fourth-seeded Scotia edged fifth-seeded South Glens Falls, 10-8, to advance to the semifinal round. The Tartans built a 5-1 halftime lead and coasted to the victory. Chrissy Bianchi scored four goals and Lily Murphy added three goals for Scotia, which will travel to take on top-seeded Burnt Hills at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
