PM Modi arrives in Leh on day-long visit to J&K |

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Leh today on a day-long visit to Jammu and Kashmir. He was welcomed at the Khushok Bakula Rinpoche Airport by Governor NN Vohra, Chief Minister Mehbooba, Minister of State at PMO, Dr Jitendra Singh, and Cooperative minister Tseeing Dorjey. Prime Minister is scheduled to attend the commencement of work on the developmental projects costing approximately Rs 11000 Crores including a road tunnel in Ladakh region and two ring road projects, at different events in Leh Ladakh, Srinagar and Jammu.
Ahead of the Prime Minister's visit, security has been beefed up with security forces put on highest alert in Srinagar city and elsewhere in Kashmir Valley. All requisite measures have been put in place to ensure foolproof security across the Valley.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also inaugurate 330-MW Kishenganga hydel power project in Srinagar. The project has been built by the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation (NHPC) in north Kashmir’s Bandipora district. It is expected to generate 1,713 million units of electricity per annum.
The project comprises three power generating units of 110 MW each. Jammu and Kashmir would get 12 per cent of power from the project.
