Bhopal: Suspecting infidelity, man hammered fourth wife to death; arrested


Bhopal: Police have arrested a 45-year-old man for brutally killing his fourth wife, whose decomposed body was found at their rented accommodation in Pragati Nagar on Thursday.  The accused identified as Rajaram Mewada (45), had killed his wife Mala doubting her fidelity, said Superintendent of Police (South)Rahul Kumar Lodha while speaking to media persons on Friday.

Rajaram had earlier married three women, while two had left him, his third wife died a few years back. Thereafter he had married Mala and was living with her at a rented accommodation. Ashoka Garden on Thursday recovered decomposed body of the woman from her house. Her post-mortem verified that soft drink can and beer bottle were thrust inside her private parts.

However, it ruled out the woman being raped. Lodha said Rajaram, a native of Icchawar in Sehore district is an alcoholic and had married thrice before getting hitched to Mala. He confessed to have killed his fourth wife suspecting her relationship with the neighbor Bablu Lodhi of Lalitpur Uttar Pradesh.


On the ill-fated, Rajaram spotted his wife talking with Bablu and in fit of rage he hit his wife’s head with hammer. The woman died on the spot. Bablu went missing after the incident and search for him has been intensified, police said. Rajaram had left his house around 9 years ago and started living in the city with Mala Mewada.

The deceased was Rajaram’s fourth wife. He used to physically assault his wives due to which two of his wives-Dhapu Bai and Deepika had left him, while third wife Vishkumari died. He brutally killed his fourth wife. Mohammad Asif (24), accused’s landlord had informed the police about a decomposed body in a vacant room beside Rajaram’s rented room on Thursday morning.  The complainant and neighbours told police that Rajaram had a fight with his wife two days ago and thereafter he went missing. Even the woman was not spotted after the incident, neighbours had told the police.
