BJP is all set

The BJP on Friday claimed that it was well on track to prove its majority in the Karnataka Assembly after the Supreme Court mandated a floor test for Saturday.

The Congress-JDS combine told the Supreme Court that Karnataka Assembly pro-tem Speaker K.G. Bopaiah, appointed for the floor test, is a “relatively junior member” of the House.

CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury lauded the Supreme Court’s direction to hold a floor test in the Karnataka Assembly at 4 p.m. on Saturday but expressed concerns about what he said was another attack on democratic institutions.
