Black Caps quick Trent Boult claims two wickets as the Delhi Daredevils beat the Super Kings by 34 runs.
Black Caps seam bowler Trent Boult has risen to third-equal on the Indian Premier League season's wicket-taking charts after helping his bottom of the table Delhi Daredevils tip up Stephen Fleming's playoff-bound Chennai Super Kings.
The left-arm quick snared a fine 2-20, which included 12 dot balls, off his four overs, as the home side earned a comfortable 34-run win at the Feroz Shah Kotla in the teams' penultimate game of round robin play on Saturday morning (NZT).
Trent Boult rose to third-equal on the IPL wicket-taking charts with his two-for in Delhi's win over Chennai.
Already with a finals spot sealed, Fleming-coached Chennai were chasing top spot, but now are also a chance of not finishing in the top two, thanks to Boult's handiwork, which saw him claim the big wickets of captain MS Dhoni and Dwayne Bravo and take his wicket tally to 17 from 13 matches.
Sent in, Delhi posted 162-5 from their 20 overs, thanks to Harshal Patel's man-of-the-match earning late assault of 36 not out off 16 balls.
Opening the bowling in the defence, Boult went for three off his first over, then nine off his second, after Shane Watson pulled him for a flat six.
The 28-year-old Kiwi then returned to the crease for the 17th over, with the task of 55 off 18 for the Super Kings looking well out of reach.

Boult ensured that was the case, with excellent execution then being rewarded with the wicket of former India captain Dhoni, who whipped a low full toss flat to Shreyas Iyer and was out for an unusually sedate 17 off 23.
Then, with 39 needed off the last over, Boult added to his collection, when former West Indies international Bravo chipped a lofted drive to Vijay Shankar at cover.

The victory was Delhi's fourth of 13 games this season and they are guaranteed to finish in bottom spot, while the playoffs makeup will come down to the final game of the regular season, when the Super Kings host Kings XI Punjab on Monday morning (NZT).
