Mumbai : A 31-year-old man allegedly shot himself with a country-made revolver after hosting a booze party for his friends on Friday night.
Ketan Patil (31) shot himself at Sion-Koliwada on Friday night at 1:30 a.m. After hosting a booze party for his five friends near his residence, Ketan allegedly shot himself with a country-made pistol around 1.30 a.m. on Friday night. According to the police, the party got over at 11:30 p.m. The incident occurred after Patil’s friends had left.
According to the Sion police, the deceased Ketan Patil’s brother informed the police control room, following which the Deputy Commissioner of Police N Ambika and Assistant Commissioner of Police Rajendra Trivedi reached the spot to investigate the matter.
Three bullets have been recovered from the spot. Ketan first fired a round in the air and then shot himself in the head. The bullet came out from behind his head and got stuck in a wall. The police are still trying to ascertain from where he got the weapon.
According to Mrudula Lad, Senior Police Inspector, Sion police station, “We have registered an accidental death case. Ketan has not been involved in any criminal activity. We have recorded statements of his five friends who attended his party and his neighbours. The reason behind the suicide is not yet known. No suicide has been found. No drugs were consumed at the party.”
As per Ketan’s friends statements to the police, he shot himself after the party was over. They were not even aware that Ketan had carried a country-made pistol along with him.
