BMC school students to vote on cleanliness

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) will now take students’ opinion about cleanliness in their schools.

The BMC has hired three agencies to look after cleanliness and security in the schools. In an order issued on Saturday, Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta, said that a poll be conducted among all students on their satisfaction with the degree of cleanliness in their school. The contractor will be paid only if 70% of the students give their approval.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the Education Department. “Schools have been instructed to start the practice from June,” said Mahesh Palkar, Chief Education Officer.
