Governor interacts with children at a SARVAM summer camp

Tamil Nadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit on Friday expressed his resolve to speak Tamil as he addressed children from rural areas at a summer camp being held at Poothurai in Villupuram district near here.

Ennaku Tamil Romba Pudichiriku”, Mr. Purohit said while concluding his short speech at the Children’s Corner Summer camp hosted by SARVAM (Sri Aurobindo Rural & Village Action & Movement), a unit of Aurobindo Society.

In his address, the Governor stress on the importance of education, environmental protection and sustainable development. He began his address with a customary “Anaivarakum Kaalai Vanakkam” greeting.

He complimented the SARVAM community for nurturing the rural kids with a wide range of activities, conducting educational programmes, camps, and scholarships.

Governor was treated to a show of handicrafts, science activities, karate, yoga Bharatanatyam, mime and a spiritual song.

The three-week long summer camp, which had 800 children in the 6-16 age group, began on May 7. Special sessions by experts, encouraging children to explore diverse and important topics such as leadership, values, attitudes, dignity, self-confidence and positive thinking were the highlights of the camp.
