VSSUT student found hanging in hostel

An engineering student was found hanging in a hostel room of the Veer Surendra Sai University of Technology (VSSUT) at Burla on Friday.

The college authorities and police rescued the student and rushed him to the Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) at Burla, where he was declared dead.

The deceased was identified as Subhrajit Pradhan, a third year Civil Engineering student. However, the cause of his suicide was yet to be ascertained by police.

According to reports, Subhrajit was found hanging with a coarse cotton towel in his hostel room. The investigation was in progress by the Burla police.

This is the second suicidal case reported from western Odisha’s premier engineering institute in a week raising suspicion on the college authorities.
