When Showtime's sensual drama The Affair returns in June, it will be loaded with heavy questions and a new mystery, apparently. In TV Guide's exclusive preview of the new season, creator Sarah Treem and the show's cast catch viewers up on where the main characters have been since we last saw them, and where they will go in Season 4.
Helen (Maura Tierney) has moved to Los Angeles with her new man Vic (Omar Metwally) and her two youngest children. Noah (Dominic West) followed so he could be close to the little ones, but he and his ex-wife still haven't figured out how to co-exist in the same zip code. Meanwhile, Cole (Joshua Jackson) still lives in Montauk with Luisa (Catalina Sandino Moreno) but is struggling to let go of his attachment to Alison (Ruth Wilson).
Showtime Sets Premiere Dates for The Affair and I'm Dying Up Here
The series will continue to tell the story of its interwoven couples through different perspectives, and Season 4 focuses on the question "what are you holding onto?" But there also appears to be another overarching mystery that will play out over the season. In the preview clip, Noah tells someone that it's been 72 hours and that no one has seen "her." That's a bit menacing when combined with with Alison saying earlier in the clip, "What if something or somebody was trying to tell me to watch out?"
The Affair is no stranger to big mysteries; the first season revolved around a murder while Season 2 was about discovering who actually killed Scotty (Colin Donnell). Now it seems that someone has gone missing and that will play out alongside the exploration of the romantic intricacies of each relationship.
So, are you ready to dive back in?
The Affair's fourth season premieres Sunday, June 17 at 9/8c on Showtime.
