Rafa Benitez to West Ham: Alan Shearer admits 'shock' at Newcastle boss' link
RAFAEL BENITEZ'S move to West Ham would come as a shock, says Newcastle United hero Alan Shearer.
The Spaniard has been heavily linked with a move to the London Stadium in recent days, as speculation surrounding his future continues to dominate the headlines.
Benitez has reaffirmed his desire to stay on Tyneside in recent weeks after ensuring a top-half finish.
However, if negotiations with Toon chief Mike Ashley breakdown, it is likely the 58-year-old could be tempted by a better offer elsewhere.
But Shearer, who managed Newcastle under their current owner, admits he would be shocked if Benitez decided to move to the Hammers.

It would be like out of the frying pan and into the fire in regards to owners
"It would be like out of the frying pan and into the fire in regards to owners.
"But it would be a really big surprise if he was to leave Newcastle for West Ham.
"It might not be a surprise if he was to go elsewhere.
"Whether Arsenal or anyone else would come in for Rafa then that would have to be looked at.
"And it will all depend on whether Mike Ashley is going to back him financially in the transfer market.

"But Newcastle have had an excellent season so it's no surprise that his name is being talked about with other clubs."
Manuel Pellegrini is the other front-runner for the West Ham job as he bids to say goodbye to the Chinese Super League.
The 64-year-old has Premier League experience with Manchester City, winning the title in 2014.
As for Benitez, he has also been linked with a move to Arsenal.
