Also, No. 15 MOT Charter (11-4) is at No. 2 Caesar Rodney (13-2) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.; No. 10 Dover (10-5) at No. 7 Appoquinimink (11-4) on Tuesday at 7 p.m.; No. 14 Wilmington Charter (7-8) vs. No. 3 Delaware Military Academy (11-4) at Tower Hill on Wednesday at 7 p.m.; and No. 11 Tatnall (10-5) at No. 6 Wilmington Friends (11-4) on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

The quarterfinals are May 26; semifinals, May 30; and finals, June 1 or 2.

Tickets are $5 for first- and second-round games, except at Baynard Stadium, where they are $6. Tickets are $6 for the semifinals and $7 for the title game.

Wilmington ousted at NCAAs

No. 7-seeded Wilmington University’s baseball season ended in a 1-0 loss to No. 1-seeded New Haven on Saturday in the NCAA East Regionals at Finnerty Field in Pleasantville, New York.

The Wildcats (35-21) managed six hits, including two each by Dover High grad Kendall Small and Milford alum Nick Grant.

Wilmington starter Chuck Delagol went six innings, allowing one run on seven hits with five strikeouts.

Blue Hens No. 5 in CAA tourney

Delaware will be the No. 5 seed in the Colonial Athletic Association Baseball Tournament beginning Wednesday at James Madison University.

The Blue Hens (29-25 overall, 12-11 CAA) and Northeastern (33-17, 17-6) had the final game of their CAA series at Hannah Stadium rained out Saturday. It won't be made up.

Delaware, the defending CAA champion, will play at 11 a.m. Wednesday against No. 4 UNC-Wilmington (33-20, 14-9 CAA). Delaware won two of three against UNCW in their regular-season matchup. 

Chen, Bourantas earn DAAD scholarships

The Delaware Association of Athletic Directors has named Newark Charter’s Michael Chen and Wilmington Christian’s Christina Bourantas the winners in the sixth annual DAAD scholarship program.

Each student-athlete will receive a $500 scholarship from DAAD and co-sponsors Varsity Athletic, L&W Insurance and State Champs.

Chen plans to attend Harvard, while Bourantas is headed to DePauw University. Both seniors are also eligible for additional regional and national scholarships administered by the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association.
