Indore: In gross violation of rules set up by coordination committee, the apex body of higher education in the state, Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya (DAVV) executive council has placed its members in DAVV’s different committees while giving them financial benefits indirectly. “As per coordination committee’s 86th meeting decision, EC members can’t be members in any other committees of the university. Yet, the DAVV’s EC has been illegally placing them in different panels of the university,” said a DAVV senior professor.
The EC in its meeting held on Wednesday had constituted a three-member committee for framing guidelines for admission cell of DAVV. The committee comprises Alok Dawar, Prof VB Gupta and Prof Ashok Sharma. While Dawar is Chancellor’s nominee in EC, Gupta and Sharma are EC members in capacity of dean and professor respectively.
“As per coordination committee’s decision, EC members cannot be part of any DAVV committee other than executive council. So, Dawar can’t be part of the three-member committee whereas Gupta and Sharma can be in it but as academics,” the professor said.
On inquiry, it was revealed that EC members including Chandrashekhar Raikwar and Ragini Makhar are also in different committees of the university. As per information, Raikawar and Makhar are members in a committee constituted for monitoring engineering works and a committee to oversee functioning of Sugni Devi Girls College.
When contacted, vice-chancellor Dr Narendra Dhakad said DAVV will remove EC members from all the committees of the universities. “If the rule does not permit, we will not nominate EC members in any committee of the DAVV,” he said. Committee comprises Alok Dawar, Prof VB Gupta and Prof Ashok Sharma.
