A youth threw ink at Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar in Hisar, ahead of his roadshow on Thursday.

The incident happened when the Chief Minister was greeting the people and  accepting bouquets from them, before beginning his roadshow. While Manohar Lal was surrounded by his security personnel, the ink landed on his face and hair, creating a commotion at a public event and also, exposing a major breach in CM’s security.

The youth, who was shouting slogans was overpowered by the CM’s security staff and handed over to the local police.

After the incident, the Chief Minister pulled out a handkerchief from his pocket and was seen wiping the ink off.

Rajiv Jain, media advisor to the Chief Minister has condemned the incident.

Such shameful incidents are planned by those political parties, who have lost support and acceptance among the general public. Such condemnable actions have no place in a democratic set up, said Jain.

However, the Chief Minister remained calm and returned to the stage after few minutes to address the gathering before his roadshow.

Later, Manohar Lal held a roadshow, riding an open jeep along with  the state Finance Minister Abhimanyu.

Before being taken into custody, the youth raised slogans and claimed that he is an activist of the Indian National Lok Dal.

“The police has taken the youth into custody and he is being questioned,” said Hisar Range Inspector General Sanjay Kuma, while talking to the mediapersons.

He said it had not yet been verified if the youth was an activist of any political outfit.

Notably, the Chief Minister has been  holding roadshows to reach out to the people ahead of 2019 polls. He has carried out roadshows in Yamunanagar, Faridabad and Rohtak and is scheduled to hold another roadshow in Kurukshetra on May 19.

During the roadshows, the Chief Minister alongwith party MLAs interacts with the public from an open jeep and also, takes their feedback on his government’s performance.

The ink incident at Hisar, has however, revealed chinks in the CM’s security.
