AMMK, AIADMK cadre clash

Several cars were damaged and many sustained minor injuries when supporters of Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam leader T.T.V. Dhinakaran's supporters and the AIADMK clashed near Vadavalli on Thursday evening.

The clash occurred on Vadavalli Road-Thondamuthur Road junction when supporters of Mr. Dhinakaran were returning from a meeting. According to members of the AMMK, the AIADMK supporters opposed their meeting at a marriage hall near Vadavalli on Thursday. Later, the cadre went to the house of an AMMK supporter to hold the meeting where leaders addressed them. “The incident happened when we were returning after the meeting. Around 300 AIADMK cadres blocked the road and damaged around 50 cars,” said a functionary of AMMK and added that former MLA Challenger Durai was travelling in one of the cars.

The police rushed to the spot where AMMK supporters demanded action against those who attacked their cars. The Vadavalli police are investigating. The AMMK cadre later staged a road block.
