LIMATO (3.40, nap) can dismiss claims that he does not stay a mile by taking Saturday's Lockinge Stakes at Newbury.
The talented gelding has failed to score over a mile after only two attempts.
Two years ago he was not disgraced when fourth in the Lockinge behind Belardo and his trainer Henry Candy now believes he will be better suited to a mile.
“I would be optimistic he could get a mile,” said Candy.
“The previous time in the Lockinge, the ground was sticky and our horses weren’t firing.”
The Aidan O’Brien-trained Rhododendron will be the obvious danger as she has won a Group One event over a mile.
O’Brien looks to have the answer with MURILLO (1.50) in the Shalaa Stakes.
He was a smart juvenile and was not disgraced behind Saxon Warrior when ninth in the 2,000 Guineas.
