Chennai-based Tirwin Mgmt partners with IVODGA to train in maritime code

Tirwin said it was looking for opportunities to partner with a global leader in maritime training, and found IVODGA as having been recognised by global vessel operators

The International Vessel Operators Dangerous Goods Association Inc (IVODGA), an international organisation of ocean common carriers in the industry, has entered a partnership with Chennai-based Management Services (P) Ltd, India, to offer its training in the region.

The partnership would provide the with training in the International Maritime Dangerous Goods (IMDG) Code in South Asia.

Administrator and Chief Technical Officer, John Currie, said: “Global compliance of the regulations for the safe and efficient transport of dangerous goods is a critical issue for our members to ensure the safety of our mariners and our ships at sea."

As exports from South Asia continue to rise, it is important that offerors and transporters of dangerous goods understand and comply with the regulations. The partnership is expected to bring additional training resources to India and neighbouring countries.
