Bharatiya Janata Party vice-president and Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) vice-chairman Avinash Rai Khanna has written to the Chief Ministers of all States proposing that photographs and brief history of martyr soldiers of armed forces be displayed in schools and colleges from where they acquired education.

Khanna, in a letter to Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, rued that “martyr soldiers of the paramilitary forces, who sacrificed their lives to maintain law and order in the insurgent areas of the country, are not remembered for long and background history of their earlier lives remain in oblivion”.

Stressing that the memories of these martyrs should be honoured, Khanna proposed that this step was necessary “to make indelible vision in the mind of young children and youth and inculcate patriotic spirit from the lives of these martyr soldiers”.

Khanna also requested that necessary directions to all concerned departments in the state government may be issued to implement the proposal in letter and spirit.
