Acting workshop for boys

The mornings at the Government Children's Home for Boys in Chinnagadili are a busy time. Differing from their routine, the kids are busy learning to act.

City-based theatre group Navarasa Theatre Arts Association is holding acting workshops for the children of the home. The workshop that was recently inaugurated is an initiative to imbibe values of disciple and teamwork among the boys.

“Fine arts teach the children lessons that are useful throughout the life. It unleashes the creativity and boosts self-confidence,” said Abdul Raqeeb, former member of the Child Welfare Council who inaugurated the workshop.

The classes begin at 9 am and go on till 12 noon, helping the children to keep busy during the summer break. At the end of the workshop the theatre association plans to host a play that which will be scripted and practised during the course of the workshop. “We have worked with Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas last year and it was a great learning experience even for us. Even in this school we are getting great insights about the life at these schools,”said PV Ramanamurthy, secretary of Navarasa Theater Arts Association.
