Yesterday, the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) was a nail-biting one as both the teams were so close to victory. RCB showed a brilliant batting performance while scoring 218 for 6 wickets in the first innings. In response, SRH was equally good as they also surpassed the 200 runs mark but were unable to win the match. SRH made 204 runs for three wickets in the end and lost the match by 14 runs. Some amazing catches
There were two amazing catches which were the spotlight of yesterday’s match. While one catch was amazingly caught by SRH’s Rashid Khan, the other one was caught by RCB’s AB de Villiers. Both the catches were taken near the boundary. In the final over of the first innings, Colin de Grandhomme tried to hit a six in Siddarth Kaul’s second ball. However, it was brilliantly caught by Rashid Khan near the boundary when he jumped to grab the catch by one hand.
Similarly, AB de Villiers caught Alex Hales’s shot near the boundary. Hales tried to hit a six on Moeen Ali’s ball in the eighth over but AB kept his focus on the ball which was going past the boundary and jumped at the right moment to catch the ball by one hand. Although, there were few other catches which were dropped in the match, these two spectacular catches were worth to be watched.
AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali’s partnership
It was being expected that RCB will not be able to put a big score as their openers Parthiv Patel and Virat Kohli both got dismissed quite early. RCB was 38/2 after 4.5 overs, and SRH got a good bowling start till then. But the match took a turn in RCB’s favour after that with the big partnership between AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali’s partnership. Scoring a partnership of 107 runs, AB and Ali scored 69 and 65 respectively to take the RCB’s score to its peak. At last, RCB scored 218 for 6 wickets after the end of 20 overs.
Colin de Grandhomme’s quick smash
Colin de Grandhomme can be called as an underdog of the RCB team. Yesterday, it was clear that RCB will set a high total due to 107 runs partnership of AB de Villiers and Moeen Ali. But Colin added a bonus to the team’s score when he scored a quick 40 off 17 runs. Although he was dismissed through an amazing catch by Rashid Khan, he already did the damage by his batting till that time.
Kane Williamson’s knock of 81
Although RCB won the match yesterday, the highest scorer was from the other team. SRH captain Kane Williamson arrived on the crease in the 6th over after the fall of Shikhar Dhawan’s wicket, and he batted till the 20th over while scoring 81. He took the responsibility of the team after the fall of Shikhar Dhawan’s wicket, and he was the key player to take his team close to the victory. Unfortunately, he got out in the 20th over on Mohammed Siraj’s ball while he tried to hit the ball to a six at deep fine leg. SRH were able to score only 204 runs while chasing a target of 219.
RCB bowlers fail yet again
It is obvious that RCB has a bunch of great batsmen in its team and they have the ability to put up a big score in every match. However, RCB’s bowling is the prominent department where they are weak. Earlier in a match against Chennai Super Kings, RCB scored above 200 runs but failed to defeat CSK as its bowlers gave away a lot of runs and were unable to pick up wickets. Yesterday too, the bowlers were quite ineffective and were able to take only 3 wickets of SRH, which brought SRH too close to the victory.
