Market breadth turns negative

Capital Market 

Stocks continued to trade with weakness in in morning trade. At 10:18 IST, the barometer index, the Sensex, was down 129.12 points or 0.37% at 35,020. The index was down 34.30 points or 0.32% at 10,648.40. Telecom stocks rose.

Domestic stocks drifted lower in early trade.

The Mid-Cap index was down 0.14%. The Small-Cap index was down 0.31%. Both these indices outperformed the Sensex.

The market breadth, indicating the overall health of the market, turned negative from positive in morning trade. On the BSE, 1,019 shares fell and 957 shares rose. A total of 106 shares were unchanged.

ICICI (down 1.72%), (down 1.6%) and (down 1.35%) edged lower from the Sensex pack.

Telecom stocks rose. (up 0.19%), MTNL (up 0.29%), (up 0.79%) and (up 14.8%) gained. (down 2.61%) fell.
