Tejaswi meets Governor, stakes claim to form government in Bihar

Rashtriya Janata Dal leader Tejaswi Yadav, who also is Leader of Opposition in state assembly met Bihar Governor Satya Pal Malik along with some MLAs and staked claim to form government in the state.

Leaders of Congress party, Hindustani Awam Morcha (Secular) and CPI-ML to accompanied Mr. Tejaswi Yadav to meet the Governor.

Mr. Tejaswi Yadav submitted list of 111 MLAs to the Governor and staked claim to form the government in the state.

The total strength of Bihar assembly is 243 and support of 122 MLAs is required to form the government. RJD has 80, Congress 27, HAM(S) 1 and CPI-ML has 3 MLAs while ruling party JD(U) has 70 and BJP has 53 MLAs in the House.

“A lot of disgruntled JD(U) MLAs are in constant touch with me…once we get the invitation from the Governor, we’ll pass the floor test easily,” Mr. Tejaswi Yadav told media persons outside Raj Bhawan after meeting the Governor.

“The Governor gave us a patient and serious hearing and told us that he would think over our submission and let us know about it,” added Mr. Tejaswi Yadav. His elder brother and party MLA from Mahua assembly cnstituency Tej Pratap Yadav too accompanied him in meeting with the Governor.

“If the Karnataka government invites single largest party to form the government there…why we, as a single largest block and party as well too, would not be invited,” asked Mr. Tejaswi Yadav.

Mr. Tejaswi Yadav also welcomed the Supreme Court verdict and said “with it the BJP has been exposed.”

Meanwhile, the ruling party JD(U) and BJP leaders have slammed Mr. Tejaswi Yadav for marching to Raj Bhawan and stake claim to form the government in the state.

“All he is doing is to grab political headline and nothing else,” said state BJP leader Dervish Kumar.

Later, the brothers reached the spot where RJD leaders staged a day-long dharna to protest “BJP dictatorship” in Karnataka.
