The Congress MLAs from Karnataka, fearing poaching by the BJP, were brought to Hyderabad for safe custody on Friday.

Sources said they were being accommodated in a five star hotel, Taj Krishna. Police sources said 120 rooms were reserved in Taj Krishna. So far, 74 MLAs have arrived at the hotel. Meanwhile, Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee President also arrived at Taj Krishna.

A senior Congress leader confirmed that some of them had already reached the city while some were on the way from Bangalore, which is an eight-hour drive from Hyderabad.

The MLAs are likely to be divided into two or three groups and shifted to some resort outside the city as well.

Local Congress leaders said even they were kept in the dark about the movements and they learnt about it only this morning as they were preparing for the protests against the BJP as per the call given by the national leadership.

Security arrangements were beefed up at Park Hyatt and there was a buzz of activity indicating that MLAs were arriving at the hotel.

Police sources confirmed that one batch of MLAs already reached Taj Krishna.

Both the hotels have high security within their premises and access to outsiders is almost impossible.
