The terror of stray dogs continues

The terror of stray dogs continued to haunt residents of Khairabad area in Sitapur, as a pack of feral dogs attacked two girls in Khairampur village injuring both. One of them is stated to be serious.

As per reports, stray dogs attacked Sonam (10) and her sister Shivani (8) while they were collecting mangoes from an orchard on Thursday morning. While Sonam was critically injured, Shivani saved herself by climbing a tree despite being bitten by the dogs.  Both victims were admitted to District Hospital, Sitapur where District Magistrate Sheetal Verma and  ASP Madhuban Singh visited them.

On Wednesday too, dogs attacked an eight-year-old girl Shaireen in Bihariganj locality of Sitapur.

On May 11, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inspected the Khairabad region and directed district officials, police and special team of Forest department to conduct a joint operation to catch stray dogs. 

The police and Forest department are using drones and night binoculars to spot and catch feral dogs, but have so far failed to track down these canines.

The toll in the dog attack has gone up to 13 and the Minister announced a compensation of Rs two lakh to families, who lost their kids in such attacks and Rs 25,000 to the injured.
