Bhopal: ABVP launches state-wide protest over filling of vacancies in varsities

Bhopal: The AkhiBhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad launched their state-wide protest from Barkatullah University demanding filling of vacant posts of teaching and non-teaching staff in universities on Thursday. The ABVP activists along with university’s student union members submitted a memorandum to registrar UN Shukla in this regard.

The ABVP in their memorandum said the state universities are struggling to impart a qualitative education as more than half of the posts of teaching and non-teaching staff are lying vacant. The university officials should try to fill in these vacancies as early as possible, the memorandum read.

In Barkatullah University alone, 41 teaching posts, out of 99 approved posts of faculty members are lying vacant. The condition is more or less same in other universities too, said the memorandum. ABVP state general secretary Banti Chauhan said the members would stage an agitation at premiere state universities on June 5, while sit-in at all the universities would be organised in the month of August.

BU student’s union president Swapnil Patel submitted a memorandum to the varsity registrar seeking holding of semester examination on scheduled time. He also said, despite assurance from the officials over the improvement in drinking water and other basic facility on the campus, the situation has not improved much. The officials should act upon the problems faced by the students on the campus as early as possible, Patel said in the memorandum.
