Andrew Amygdalos, 90, of Beaver Falls, died Wednesday, May 16, 2018, in his home. Born June 13, 1927, in New Brighton, he was the son of the late Michael and Soulia Mirichlis Amygdalos and the stepson of the late Rose Amygdalos. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps having served during World War II. He was a member of Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church in Ambridge and the Beaver Falls American Legion Post 261. He had been employed at the Brighton Hot Dog Shoppe for 40 years and previously had owned and operated The Sandwich Shop in Beaver Falls and The Third Avenue Grill in New Brighton. In addition to his parents and stepmother, he was preceded in death by two sisters, Viola Finikiotis and infant Evangeline Amygdalos, and a brother, William Amygdalos. He is survived by his wife, Maria Louris Amygdalos; three children, Dr. Michael A. Amygdalos and his wife Christine, Wyoming, Del.; William D. Amygdalos, Elliott City, Md., and Julia Amygdalos Oldenburg and her husband Charles, Peters Twp., Pa.; five grandchildren, Andrew M. Amygdalos, Olivia R. Amygdalos, Maria H. Oldenburg, Sarah E. Oldenburg and Samantha N. Oldenburg, and a sister and brother-in-law, Anastasia and Nick Koutoulakis, Valencia, Pa. Friends will be received Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. in the HILL & KUNSELMAN FUNERAL HOME, www.hillandkunselman.com, 3801 Fourth Ave., College Hill, Beaver Falls. There will be a Trisagion service in the funeral home on Friday at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, 2930 Beaver Road, Ambridge, with Father Emmanuel N. Lillios officiating. Interment will follow in Beaver Falls Cemetery.
