Matt Brooker of Albany and Karen Bertasso of Albany defended their titles as the top runners Thursday in the CDPHP Workforce Team Challenge race in Albany.

Brooker covered the 3.5-mile course in 17 minutes, 29 seconds, finishing 16 seconds ahead of runner-up Eric McKnight of Ballston Spa.

Bertasso finished 31 seconds ahead of runner-up Erin Lopez of Saratoga Springs, winning in 20:25.

Brooker, 27, has won the race three straight years and Bertasso, 33, captured her third title in the past four years.

A total of 8,276 runners finished the race, which features corporate teams from all over the Capital Region.

Brooker's team is CommerceHub, while Bertasso represented St. Peter's Health Partners.
