LIVINGSTON, Mont. (AP) The family of Margot Kidder says they were shaken by the "Superman" actress' death on Mother's Day.
Chad Franscoviak, who is married to Kidder's only child, 41-year-old Maggie McGuane, gave the family's first public statement Thursday.
He says authorities took McGuane into the home in Livingston, Montana, where her mother had just died Sunday. The statement says it was difficult for McGuane, especially on Mother's Day.
Franscoviak says McGuane isn't speaking out until a coroner releases autopsy findings and is asking for privacy.
Police say they found the 69-year-old Kidder dead in the home but haven't determined a cause.
The foundation of the late Christopher Reeve, on-screen Superman to Kidder's Lois Lane, is among many paying tribute to Kidder on Twitter, saying "Fly high, our friend, shine bright."
