A few days ago the news of Sridevi being honoured at the ongoing Cannes Film Festival spread like wildfire. And reports of Boney Kapoor along with daughter Janhvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor attending the festival made to the headlines. Instead it was filmmaker Subhash Ghai who received the award on behalf of Sridevi.

Cannes Film Festival honoured late Sridevi with a special salute to the actress at the Titan Reginald F Lewis Film Honours on Thursday (May 17) for her contribution to Indian cinema.

Subhash Ghai, who worked with Sridevi in the 1986 film Karma, took to Twitter to share pictures from the event and wrote, "It was an honour to receive award on behalf of legend @SrideviBKapoor at @Festival_Cannes yesterday for her outstanding contribution in indian cinema and shared my experience with impeccable inimitable actor to western audience hosted by Titan Reginald F. Lewis film honours."

Reacting to the announcement of Cannes intending to honour Sridevi, Boney had earlier said, "I'm happy that people from the world over are recognising her body of work and her contribution to cinema. Even though the overwhelming emptiness of losing her remains, it's comforting to know that she lives on through her work."

Early this month, Sridevi was awarded the National Film Award in the best actress category for her performance in Mom. Boney along with Janhvi and Khushi had received the award on her behalf.
