MUMBAI: Mumbai’s airport saw significant delays yesterday due to problems with the air traffic controls.

Aircraft were stationed on the ground for 90 minutes to 2 hours after door-closure, leading to discomfort for passengers and cascading delays, said a top airline executive.

Earlier in the day, the airport issued a notice that there would be a non-availability of instrument landing systems, but assured that there would be no reduction in capacity. However afternoon onwards delays started and snowballed to in the evening.
