Vigilance arrests lineman, middleman for accepting bribe of Rs. 30,000

State Vigilance Bureau arrested PSPCL Lineman and a private person for accepting bribe.

Disclosing this here an official spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau said Lineman Rakesh Kumar posted at PSPCL Sub Division Patran, Patiala and a private person Deepak Goyal, a shopkeeper at Patran, were arrested on the complaint of Amandeep Singh of Village Ghaga in Patiala district.

The complaint has approached the VB and alleged that the above said lineman and a private person working as his middleman, were demanding Rs. 30,000 to install commercial power connection at his floor mill. It may be mentioned here that the accused lineman and the middleman  had already fixed a deal with SDO Davinder Kumar and JE Karamjeet Singh of PSPCL Sub Division Patran for sharing the bribe amount in this case.

After verifying his information, Vigilance team laid a trap and the accused middleman was arrested on the spot while accepting bribe of Rs.30,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses. The VB has also arrested accused lineman and booked SDO and JE in this case.

He informed that a case under section 7, 13 (2) of Prevention of Corruption Act and 120-B IPC has been registered against all the above said accused at VB police station Patiala and further investigations were under progress.
