Europe Sues Largest Members Over Air Pollution Levels

Britain, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Romania persistently exceeded pollution limits, says commission

The European Union said Thursday it sued some of its biggest members at the EU’s top court over air pollution, highlighting challenges facing the bloc in promoting clean transportation following the diesel-emissions scandal.

Britain, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Romania have persistently exceeded pollution limits and failed to present measures that would curtail emissions, mainly from traffic but also industry, heating and agriculture, the European Commission said.
