ALLAHABAD: A joint team of crime branch, surveillance cell and Manjhanpur police arrested nine persons for allegedly trying to stop a police Vajra van, which was taking hardened criminal Gulshan Yadav to a court in Kaushambi on Wednesday.
SP (Kaushambi) Pradeep Gupta said that a police van was taking Gulshan Yadav to the district court in Pratapgarh for a hearing on Wednesday.

While they were on their way, these armed miscreants started following the police van in an SUV as soon as it came out of the Kaushambi jail. Yadav is wanted in 21criminal cases.

Gupta added that police have been interrogating the nine to know the miscreants’ motive behind following the van and if they were trying to rescue Gulshan Yadav from police custody. The SP said that the miscreants were caught following the police van on Tuesday as well, when the police were taking Yadav to Pratapgarh for a court hearing.

On Wednesday, Kaushambi police received a tipoff that nine armed assailants would be following the van in which Yadav was to be taken to the court. The police intercepted and barricaded the Kaushambi-Pratapgarh route and nabbed the assailants. A case under section 147, 148, and 332 of IPC and 25\27 Arms Act was registered against them.
