The has decided to revert to the old system of one auction a day of by licensed auctioneers at centres at in Kerala's district and Bodinayakanur in district of

The decision was necessitated in the wake of complaints from growers' organizations that the lots of small growers were pushed back and half-day auctions were getting extended upto late evening and low price due to the present system ofhalf day auction, a Board release said here today.

Another grouse of the traders was they were not getting sufficient time to get their samples evaluated to fix the quality, which resulted in low prices for their produce.

Board ChairmanA Jayathilak said they have taken note of issues raised by growers organizations at centres, which were adversely impacting incomes of small cardamom growers. So it was decided to revert to the old system of one auction a day for better price realization to growers,he said.
