Woman found dead

Police questioning husband

A 30-year-old woman was found dead under mysterious circumstances at her residence in Dasari Narayana Colony in Jillelaguda under Meerpet police station limits here on Wednesday. The police identified the victim as K. Anitha, wife of a cab driver K. Yadaiah.

Assistant Commissioner of Police Vanasthalipuram C. Gandhinarayana said the murder came to light around 6 a.m. on Wednesday when her husband returned home from work.

Police said Anitha married Yadaiah 12 years ago and the couple had two children. Mr Gandhinarayana said around 2.30 a.m. when their daughter Achuta (11) woke up to quench thirst the victim was sleeping in the room. “The murder could have occurred only after 2.30 a.m.,” he said.

“Anitha’s parents suspect her husband hacked her to death. However, we are yet to verify the allegations,” he said.

The police are analysing the video footages of the surveillance cameras in the areas and verifying the call data records of Yadaiah.

The ACP said two teams were formed to investigate the case and they are questioning Yadaiah, their relatives and neighbours.

Cops suspect the victim was smothered to death and blood stains oozing from nose and mouth were found.

The actual cause of death can be found out only after they get the post-mortem report, the police said.
