Market Now: ITC keeps Nifty FMCG index down
Shares of Tata Global Beverages jumped almost 3 per cent.
NEW DELHI: The Nifty FMCG index was trading 0.39 per cent down at 28,754 around 01:50 pm on Thursday as the index heavyweight ITC (down 1.36 per cent) was suffering losses in trade even after it reported on Wednesday a 10 per cent YoY rise in Q4 profit.

FMCG major ITC on Wednesday posted a 9.86 per cent year-on-year rise in profit at Rs 2,932.71 crore for the quarter ended March.

Other than ITC, Jubilant Foodworks (down 0.63 per cent), Britannia Industries (down 0.58 per cent) and Emami (down 0.54 per cent) were also in the red.

On the other hand, shares of Tata Global Beverages (up 2.90 per cent) jumped almost 3 per cent.

Marico (up 0.72 per cent), Hindustan Unilever (up 0.71 per cent), United Breweries (up 0.53 per cent), Godrej Consumer Products (up 0.47 per cent), Godrej Industries (up 0.39 per cent), United Spirits (up 0.37 per cent) and Dabur India (up 0.11 per cent) were also up.

Selling in metal, energy, banks, financials and IT counters were keeping the bourses down.

Benchmark NSE Nifty50 index was down 33 points at 10,708, while the BSE Sensex was 122 points down at 35,266.

Among the 50 stocks in the Nifty index, 21 were trading in the green, while 29 were in the red.
