The Center for Portuguese Studies and Culture/Tagus Press – UMass Dartmouth and the Consulate of Portugal in New Bedford are hosting a screening of the film “Voices in the Fog > New Bedford Chapter,” with a Q&A session with the filmmakers.

The documentary will be shown Monday, May 21 at 7 p.m. in the Cook Memorial Theater at the New Bedford Whaling Museum, 111, Johnny Cake Hill.

“Voices in the Fog” focuses on former Portuguese cod fishermen who share memories and anecdotes of their lives at sea. The "New Bedford Chapter" introduces individuals who immigrated to the United States to build a new life on American soil. These are their stories.

After the screening will be a Q&A with director Pedro Marnoto.

Additional film crew includes: Assistant Director Hugo Marques and cinematography by Hugo Marques, Pedro Marnoto. Production was by PAPS (Portuguese American Post-Graduate Society), Arte Institute.

The documentary features English subtitles. The screening is open to the public.

Prior to the screening, from 6-7 p.m. there will be light refreshments by Inner Bay in the Jacobs Family Gallery.
