Whirlwind kills toddler in TN village

DHARMAPURI: An 11-month-old baby girl, who was sleeping in a cradle in her home near Karimangalam in Dharmapuri district of Tamil Nadu, died after being blown away by a whirlwind on Wednesday night.
The toddler has been identified as K Vaishnavi, daughter of Kumar and Saliyammal of Poolapatty.

Police said the couple were living in an asbestos roofed house. There was a heavy whirlwind in the village around 11pm on Wednesday.

The toddler was sleeping in a cloth cradle which was attached to a hook used for asbestos roofing. The whirlwind blew away the asbestos sheets. The toddler and the cradle were also blown away. They fell at a distance outside the house.

The couple rushed the toddler to Government Hospital in Karimangalam where doctors declared her brought dead.

The Karimangalam police registered a case.
