Thiruvananthapuram: The second anniversary celebrations of the LDF government will be held from May 18 to May 30. The official functions will kickstart at Kannur, the home district of the chief minister, and will conclude at Thiruvananthapuram.

A K Balan said that the celebrations will be inaugurated by chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan at Collectorate Ground, Kannur on Friday. The function will be attended by state ministers, MPs, MLAs and other noted personalities. The CM will also release a book on various government projects for financial aid.
As part of the celebrations, cultural programmes and exhibitions have been organized at all district headquarters.
Several stalls, offering services of various government departments and public-sector undertakings, will be arranged as part of the exhibitions. The cultural programmes will be organized by Kerala Mappila Kala Academy, Kerala Sangeetha Nataka Akademi, Kerala Lalithakala Akademi, Chalachithra Academy and Bharat Bhavan.
Balan also outlined all the major achievements of individual departments in the past two years. He said that for the first time, the government has set a record by spending Rs 5,581 crore out of the plan fund of Rs 6,194 crore. While there has been 20% increase in the IT exports, the government could turn around the loss- making PSUs to profit-making ones, the minister said.
Meanwhile, the opposition will observe ‘betrayal day’ on Friday. A book, compiled by opposition leader Ramesh Chennithala, listing out major falls and failure of the government will be launched by former chief minister Oommen Chandy here. The ‘betrayal day’ will be observed in all the 140 assembly constituencies on the same day.
