Atletico to hand Spain Europa League glory - bookies

    2018-05-16 11:00

Cape Town - Atletico Madrid will secure success for Spain in Wednesday's Europa League final, if bookmakers are to be believed...

Atletico will face French club Marseille in the final to be held at the Groupama Stadium in Lyon, with kick-off set for 20:45 SA time.

Atletico, who are currently second in the La Liga standings with a single match to play this season, are two-time Europa League winners, having tasted victory in 2009/10 and 2011/12.

Atletico boss Diego Simeone is banned for the final, but they will look to Antoine Griezmann to guide them to victory, while former Liverpool and Chelsea striker Fernando Torres is another familiar name in their squad.

Marseille in turn are currently fourth in Ligue 1, again with a single match to play.

They are yet to lift the Europa League trophy, but did emerge victorious in the 1992/93 Champions League.

For them, former West Ham midfielder and now Marseille skipper, Dimitri Payet, is a key man, while their fans will be hoping defender Adil Rami is not distracted by his new girlfriend, former Baywatch bombshell, Pamela Anderson.

Leading SA bookies BET.co.za have installed Atletico as 1/1 favourites to win in regulation time, while Marseille can be backed at 61/20.

The draw after 90 minutes is on offer at 11/5.
