Vehicle crashes into parked bus

Thirty-five passengers on board a private bus escaped unhurt on Tuesday morning when their bus crashed into an empty stationary bus on Ghodbunder Road in Thane.

According to the Kasarvadavli police, the incident occurred near Gaimukh Junction around 8.30 a.m. on Tuesday. The bus, belonging to a travel agency called Raman Travels, was on its way to Thane from Borivali. “The bus crashed into another one that was parked by the side of the road. The driver was injured, but all 35 passengers board escaped unhurt,” senior police inspector D.S. Dhole, Kasarvadavli police station, said.

The passengers called the police control room, which alerted the Kasarvadavli police and the Regional Disaster Management Cell of the Thane Muncipal Corporation. A team of officers and a rescue vehicle was rushed to the spot.

The police said the parked vehicle was also a private bus. Inquiries are under way to find its owners.

Bus driver Bhiku Das (23) suffered minor injuries to his legs and is being treated at Kaivalya Hospital in Thane. “The driver is in a stable condition, but we are yet to record his statement. No case has been registered so far. We will question him to find out if he was driving under the influence of alcohol or if it is a case of rash driving,” Mr. Dhole said.
