DGP OP Singh ordered all district police to form STF

On the directions of the Supreme Court, director general of police, OP Singh, here on Tuesday ordered all district police chiefs to immediate constitute a Special Task Force (STF) under an additional SP or deputy SP rank officers to expedite monitoring of cases registered under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offenses (POCSO) Act. 

According to an official communiqué issued by DGP here on Tuesday evening,  OP Singh said that STF should be constituted at earliest under Addl SP (crime) and in districts where no such posts exists than Deputy SP (Crime) should be made as chief. This officer will ensure speedy investigation as well as expedite prosecution in all the matter which were going in the POCSO court. 

Similarly staff officers of the ADG (zones), IG (zones), IG (Ranges) and DIG (ranges) as well of district police chiefs would monitoring functioning of these STF and will put up report before the officers concerned every month so necessary action could be taken in the matter. At the DGP office, the same exercise will be made under ADG (crime). Singh also ordered the victim’s statement should be taken by a female sub-inspector, and medical examination should be done under the provisions of 164A of Cr PC and DNA profiling should be also maintained. 

All the investigations registered under the POCSO Act must be completed and charge-sheet should be filed within two months. The mobile number and ADHAR card details of all the witnesses should be submitted in writing with the POCSO court to facilitate trial.  The officials must also ensure adequate compensation to the victims. The STF will be responsible to ensure that all the witnesses turned up in court and that day to day hearing of the matter should be made to earlier disposal of cases.
