LUCKNOW: Uttar Pradesh secured the first position in overall performance ranking released by the
Union Ministry Of Rural Development.
As per the ranking, UP scored 'extremely well' on flagship scheme Pradhan Mantri Gramin Avas Yojana. While UP was awarded 85 per cent marks for completing the target assigned, its nearest contender Chhattisgarh was far behind with 47 per cent marks.
Likewise, UP scored highest on the front of job creation in Mahatama Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme. Other parameters where UP scored well were clean drinking water and National rural livelihood mission.
"UP has scored well on all parameters which speaks for
BJP government's commitment for transparency. We shall strive to sustain the number one place," minister for rural development,
Mahendra Singh said. Principal secretary for rural development Anurag Srivastava has been felicitated by the union government for UP's performance.
Meanwhile, the state rural development department rolled out a performance based appraisal and transfer system for its class one officers. At least 65 officers got their transfer orders on the basis of a preferential ranking.
"The officers were scored on the basis of their performance against assigned targets. Thereafter, a merit list was released. Based on their scores, those eligible for transfer were asked to fill in the places of their choice. While the best scorer could choose from any place, options decreased for those on the lower ranks," explained NP Singh, mission director, national rural livelihood mission while briefing reporters after an open house where the officers were handed over their transfer order. Talking about the rankings, minister Mahendra Singh said, "the method is model for rest of the country."
