Ford to resume F-150, Super Duty production
Ford Motor Co. will resume production of its best-selling F-150 pickup truck at its Dearborn, Mich., plant on Friday, and its Super Duty pickup truck at its Kentucky truck plant and F-150 production in the Kansas City, Mo., factory on Monday, the company said late Wednesday. Ford halted the pickup trucks' production last week after a May 2 fire ravaged a supplier's plant in Michigan. Ford assembled a team of global experts "to quickly refurbish and relocate tooling" so the factory could resume making the parts again, the company said. "While the situation remains extremely dynamic, our teams are focused on returning our plants to full production as fast as possible," Joe Hinrichs, Ford president of global operations, said in a statement. "The ramp-up time to full production is improving every day." Ford reaffirmed its guidance of adjusted earnings between $1.45 a share and $1.70 a share for the year, and said it expects second-quarter earnings to decrease by 12 cents to 14 cents in the second quarter due to lost production. Ford shares were flat in late trading after ending the regular session up 1.6%.
