Uddhav Thackeray dares BJP to fight polls with ballot

On Tuesday when the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) emerged as the single largest party in the Karnataka Assembly polls, the Shiv Sena, NCP and the MNS slammed the continued use of the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) in the polls, while Sena’s Uddhav Thackeray dared the ruling BJP to hold future elections using ballot papers to remove “doubts” in the minds of the people about the EVMs.

Reacting to the BJP’s impressive performance in the Karnataka electoral outcome, MNS chief Raj Thackeray tweeted: “It’s a victory for the ‘Electronic Voting Machine’ !”.

Alluding to the alleged misuse of EVMs by the BJP, Uddhav said: “If the BJP is so confident about winning polls, it should once hold the polls using ballot papers so as to remove the doubts in the minds of the people.  One can imagine if the BJP wins polls in states where it was not in power at any point of time, but how you account for the BJP’s electoral success in a state where the people have already experienced its misrule”.
