Senior Danny Botelho continued his exceptional play, posting a 6-3, 6-0 first singles win in Somerset Berkley Regional's 3-2 South Coast Conference boys' tennis loss to Apponequet Regional on Tuesday in Somerset.

The Raiders' No. 2 singles player for the first half of the season, Botelho (15-2) took over at No. 1 and has just kept getting better.

At the South Sectional Individual tournament last weekend, he posted a pair of victories before losing to Barnstable High's talented Trevor Blaze 6-3, 1-6, 7-5 in the quarterfinals. Botelho was seeded 15th, Blaze sixth.

Against Apponequet, SBR (8-7) earned its other point when Devon Barros and Tom Goodwin won 1-6, 6-4, 10-5 at second doubles.

The Raiders need one more win to qualify for the state playoffs. Their remaining matches are home against Durfee and then an SCC crossover against a yet-to-be-determined foe.

Taunton 3, Durfee 1: At Durfee High School, thunder and threatening skies cut short this match with No. 2 singles in progress.

Durfee (8-5) got its point when Baron Snizek and Ryan Mauricio won 6-2, 6-4 at second doubles.
