Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool 2 projected to open with humongous Rs 2300 crore

Deadpool 2 is being projected to earn more money in its opening weekend than the record-breaking first film. According to trade publication Deadline, the superhero sequel is expected to make $350 million in its worldwide opening weekend, an increase from the first film’s $265 million debut.

The report predicts Ryan Reynolds’ film to make between $130 million to $150 million in the US, and an additional $175 million to $200 million in the rest of the world. The first film broke the opening weekend record for the highest grossing R-rated film with a $132 million US debut. Deadpool became the biggest R-rated film of all time with a final tally of close to $800 million.

Reynolds has been on a marketing spree for Deadpool 2 - the marketing was considered to be a major ingredient for the first film’s success. He appeared in a music video with Celine Dion and performed karaoke on a Korean game show.

Deadpool 2 will introduce fans to their first cinematic X-Force, and Reynolds has said that future Deadpool movie will lean in that direction instead of being solo films.

David Leitch, who previously directed Atomic Blonde and was one-half of the directorial duo behind John Wick, took over from Tim Miller, who helmed the first film. Miller departed Deadpool 2 in early stages after reported clashes with Reynolds over the film’s tone and budget.

Deadpool 2 also stars Josh Brolin as Cable, Zazie Beetz as Domino and TJ Miller, Karan Soni, Bill Skarsgard, Morena Baccarin and Julian Dennison. The film’s Hindi voice cast will be led by Ranveer Singh as Deadpool and YouTuber Bhuvan Bam as the cabbie Dopinder.
