The trailer for the Magnum P.I. reboot is finally here!

Jay Hernandez (Suicide Squad) steps into the role of Thomas Magnum, which was played by Tom Selleck in the original. The series follows Magnum as he tries to make a name for himself as a private investigator in Hawaii. This time around, however, Magnum is an ex-Navy SEAL who is settling back into civilian life after a tour in Afghanistan.

In an even bigger shake-up of the formula of the original, Perdita Weeks (Penny Dreadful) will be joining Hernandez in the gender-swapped role of Higgins, the property master of Magnum's boss. Originally played by John Hillerman, casting Higgins as a woman opens up the possibility of a will they/won't they scenario between the two leads. Zachary Knighton and Stephen Hill co-star as Magnum's buddies.

At the end of this first look at the series, Magnum is driving a Ferrari during a car chase and then jumps off a truck as it's falling off a cliff to a helicopter. It's gonna be fun!

Penned by Peter Lenkov (Hawaii Five-O, MacGyver), the Magnum P.I. reboot is joins CBS' stable of revived shows that also includes S.W.A.T. and the upcoming Murphy Brown revival.

Magnum P.I. will air Mondays at 9/8c on CBS this fall.

(Full disclosure: TV Guide is owned by CBS.)
