Facebook Inc. Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg has accepted the European Parliament's invitation to "clarify" issues related to the use of personal data, according to a statement from European Parliament President Antonio Tajani. Zuckerberg will be Brussels "as soon as possible, hopefully already next week," to meet leaders of political groups and the Chair and the Rapporteur of the Committee for Civil Liberties, Justice and Home Affairs, the statement said. "Our citizens deserve a full and detailed explanation," Tajani stated. "I welcome Mark Zuckerberg's decision to appear in person before the representatives of 500 million Europeans. It is a step in the right direction towards restoring confidence." Last month, Zuckerberg testified before Congress to address the recent Cambridge Analytica scandal and other privacy and security issues. Facebook's stock was down 0.5% in midday trade. It has gained 3.4% over the past three months, while the S&P 500 has slipped 0.5%.
