Southwest monsoon proper to hit Sri Lanka from May 23

The southwest monsoon, which brings seasonal rain to the Indian subcontinent, will hit Sri Lanka on May 23, Meteorology Department predicts.

According to international weather forecasts, the monsoon is expected to reach the Andaman and Nicobar Islands on May 20 and advance further to Sri Lanka and over East Central Bay of Bengal between May 22 and 23.
